This is a credit card with a difference. Instead of having a cashback offer or loyalty scheme the American Express Red donates 1.25% of everything spent on the card to the Global Fund - financed programs in Africa which help woman and children affected by HIV / Aids. £5 is donated automatically if you make a purchase on the card within 1 month of receiving it.
Even though this has charity as one of its main selling points the card also offers a great standard rate of 12.9% APR - one of the most competitive available. American Express Red also offers 24hr global assist, Travel accident insurance, purchase protection and more so it really is a case of helping yourself while you help others.

The American Express Red credit card is a decent value proposition. The standard rate of 12.9% is very attractive for a day to day use credit card and it has a host of added value benefits. But that is not the main selling point of the Red card. the chance to give something back while going about your daily life will, I am sure, appeal to many.
